“The Awakening”: anthropological notes on “negacionismo” and conspiracy theories about Covid-19 ; “El Despertar”: notas antropológicas acerca del “negacionismo” y las teorías conspirativas sobre la Covid-19

This article explores, from an ethnographic perspective, the emergence of conspiracy theories around the pandemic that ravaged the world in 2020. On the one hand, the article seeks to explain the appearance and spread of these alternative stories. On the other, it questions the labelling process that helped official institutions discredit any “dissonant” narrative. These two perspectives are not mutually excluding, but rather they are complementary in showing what is at stake in the circulation of conspiracy theories: a profound discontent with a reality that has become increasingly difficult to distinguish from fiction. ; Este artículo explora, a partir de un enfoque etnográfico, la aparición de teorías conspirativas sobre la pandemia que asoló al mundo en el año 2020. Por una parte, este trabajo busca dar cuenta de la creación y diseminación de estos relatos alternativos. Por otra, se trata también de poner en cuestión el proceso de etiquetado que se ha llevado a cabo desde las instituciones oficiales para desacreditar cualquier discurso “disonante”. Estas dos perspectivas no son autoexcluyentes, sino que se complementan para mostrar qué es lo que se pone en juego en la circulación de las teorías conspirativas: un malestar profundo con una realidad que cada vez es más difícil de distinguir de la ficción.
