The article discusses a research study about medication in relation to ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) in patients with a first myocardial infarction. Investigation by the researchers revealed that patients with STEMI were younger, had less prior cardiovascular disease, and used fewer medications before they were hospitalized. They also observed the association between the use of aspirin, &beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, or statins with decreased risk of incidence of STEMI.
